This document tracks changes in the inSync server. inSync server 2.2: ================== Note: The preconfigured folders in user profile are not fully upgraded when moving from inSync Server 2.1.x to 2.2. If you plan to upgrade from inSync server 2.1.x and you use preconfigured folders in user profile, please contact support@druvaa.com for details. Changes: * Support upgrade from 2.1.x servers to 2.2. Automatic upgrade. * Support web browser based restore. * More reports. * Administrator configured folders for backup. * Administrator can browse backed up folder for a user and/or remove restore points to free up space. * Administrator initiated restore requests. * Administrator can dump the backed up data for user accounts that are disabled. inSync server 2.1.2: ==================== Changes: * Support for installation on a domain controller. inSync server 2.1.1: ==================== Changes: * Support for unicode usernames. * Improved postgres installation/integration support. * Show the server status in the configuration application as a quick health check. * Fixes some AD import bugs. * Server arvhival and restore is now documented. inSync server 2.1: ================== Changes: * Support upgrade from 1.x and 2.0.x servers to 2.1. Installation doesn't automatically upgrade. In order to upgrade the server configuration, you need to run the server configuration tool. Failing to do so will cause the server to sleep till the upgrade is done. * Performance improvements for SIS as well as plain file storage. * Fixes to the thrash cleanup behavior on plain storage. * Quota management fixes. * Usage tracking fixes. * Handle Postgres installation issues better. * Unicode pathnames support. * Long pathname support on unicode storage. inSync server 2.0.1: ==================== Changes: * Fixed AD import issues. Now you should be able to see users in all OUs. * SIS garbage collection now defragments actual storage files if the used/unused ratio falls below a certain value. This reclaims freed up space. * Trash compaction now happens once a day. inSync server 2.0: ================== Major changes: * Single Instance Store: This is a spiffy feature that cuts down your bandwidth and storage requirements by an order of magnitude. SIS attempts to maintain a single copy of files or their parts for all users provisioned on the storage. Files or parts of files that are already in the store (belonging to any user) will never be synced up. That saves you precious bandwidth as well as server disk usage. * Import users from Active Directory. * Categorize users into profiles. Profiles help set constraints on groups of users for better control and management. * Manage available storage more efficiently. * Encryption: All data stored in SIS is encrypted using AES. So no one - including the Admin has direct access to the data. Please refer to the inSync Administrators Guide for details and a complete feature set. inSync Server 1.2: ================== * inSync Server folder permissions fixed: To prevent unauthorized access to users' data on the server, the permissions on the inSync Server's storage folder is now adjusted so that only 'Administrators' and 'Backup Operators' (on Windows) and inSyncServer (on Linux) can access it.
